Skeletal System Intro
The skeletal system is very dynamic and important to our survival. Besides the obvious production and support, it functions for blood cell production and storage of minerals. It is also a site of muscle attachments for motion and movement.
Bones are shaped differently to provide protection. Think of your skull or cranium and how it is different than the thoracic cage. Bone shapes also allow for movement, especially when combined with muscle attachments and contraction. Bones act as levers for movement; the muscles provide the force of pulling, which pulls the bone and causes movement at the joints.
